NEWS! Table Tennis Results, 2009 There were lots of new champions in this year's table tennis event held Oct. 20 at the Maryland Table Tennis Association in Eldersburg, Md. as many from last year's nationals qualifier took the year off from the competition. There was one constant: Henry Kostkowski, of LaPlata, has now captured his age group singles championship each year since at least 1998, the earliest date of MSO records on file. He has been the reigning champion in the 70-74, 75-79 and 80-85 divisions. He continued his long winning streak by again winning gold in the men's 80-85 group. The other repeat champ in men's singles was Mark Ratner of Silver Spring in men's 70-74. Mr. Kostkowski's wife Betty helped load down the car with medals as she won gold in singles and mixed doubles with her husband. Mr. Kostkowski also teamed with Chester Lord for a silver in doubles. A thin women's competition produced only Genie Sachs (75-79) as a repeat winner other than Mrs. Kostkowski. Perhaps the best competition took place in men's 70-74 doubles, where Thomas Golab and Mark Ratner repeated as gold medalists with Mr. Lord/Mr. Kostnowski and William Van Wright/Apparao Lengrade finishing with silver and bronze, respectvely. That was their same finish in the age group last year. The results of the 2009 MSO table tennis event: Singles 60-64 65-69 70-74 75-79 80-84 85-89 Women 60-64 65-69 70-74 75-79 80-84 Doubles 65-69 70-74 75-79 Women 60-64 Mixed Doubles 70-74 80-84
