We Win! MSO Website Is Best in NSGA Again
The National Senior Games Association (NSGA), owner of the largest multi-sport event in the world for adults aged 50 and over, honored the Maryland Senior Olympics as the nation’s top Senior Games website during the media awards luncheon held at the 2011 NSGA annual conference Jan. 28.

The Website Award belongs to MSO for the second consecutive year. The site is produced by veteran sports journalist, editor and content developer Dennis Tuttle of Silver Spring, who helps MSO by developing, writing and designing all the content and images on www.mdseniorolympics.org.

“Mr. Tuttle’s strong editorial eye for finding the inspiring stories about many of our athletes helps to create what I believe is the award-winning feature of our website,” said Ted Wroth, MSO executive director. “Our athletes love the newspaper-quality combination of human interest storylines, news, information, results, records and historical perspective. It’s obviously a winning formula.”

NSGA Media Awards identify and honor organizations that have demonstrated excellence through entries submitted in six categories. MSO was runner-up to Idaho in the Information Packet category.

“By recognizing and honoring these creative ideas through the NSGA Media Awards program, we hope to provide a platform that fosters information sharing throughout the association,” said Phil Godfrey, NSGA president and CEO.

Since 1980, the Maryland Senior Olympics has promoted healthy, active lifestyles for mature adults through an annual state competition of 17 sports and 50 events. The 2011 Games will be held August to November at various venues around the state.
