NEWS!
National Records for Lary, Dashiell
It was a huge track and field event for MSO mainstays Audrey Lary and Wally Dashiell, who established three national Masters age-group records that were ratified by USA Track and Field Dec. 1

Dashiell, 87, holds most of the Maryland Senior Olympics women's 85-89 records and, amazingly, she keeps extending her marks as she ages. Her weight throw of 19 feet, 4.75 inches easily bested the old mark of 16-10.75.

Long-time MSO friends Wally Dashiell, left, and Audrey Lary at the conclusion of the 200-meter dash.
Not to be outdone, her final triple jump leap of 12-4.5 was her best and blasted her prevous marks of 9-3.5 from each of the past two MSO events. It also set the national mark and bettered her leap of 11-7.76 at last year's National Senior Games.

Anticipation had centered around Lary, 76, extending her MSO records in women's 75-79 200- and 400-meter dashes, and the long and triple jumps. But it was her weight throw of 34 feet, 5.5 inches that created a stir, with an event judge rushing to the official scorer's stand announcing the distance with excitement.

Lary's throw smashed the MSO mark of 18-09.63 set by Sharon Good in 2008 and surpasses a pending national Masters record by Gloria Krug of Pennsylvania.
