• MSO Pole Vault Canceled, but You Can Still Qualify for National (08-16-10)
Heavy rains at the MSO track field event Aug. 15 forced the cancellation of the pole vault event. But athletes can still qualify for the National Senior Games through two different ways.
• 2010 Maryland Senior Olympics Winter Games, Feb. 13 (12-07-09)
Events being held in ice hockey, figure skating and curling in one day at The Gardens Ice House in Laurel. Lots of fun and informal competition, along with lessons and awards. Finish off the day with a pot luck dinner.
• Former Director Adams Among 2009 Awards Honorees (11-28-09)
Former MSO executive director Phil Adams is among five new members of the MSO Hall of Fame, along with winners of the Commission Citation Award and Robert G. Zeigler Service Award.
• Masters Indoor Track Championships, March 20-22 (2-12-09)
The USA Masters Indoor National Track & Field Championships are coming to the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex March 20-22, giving Maryland Senior Olympians a chance to compete against some the country's best. For those aged 30-and-above, this event is a great warmup for the '09 National Senior Games.
• Additional Qualifiers Now Eligible for National (1-06-09)
The National Senior Games will now allow fourth-place finishers in individual events from 2008 qualifying games (such as the Maryland Senior Olympics) to participate in the National event. Exception: four-place finishers in golf, cycling and tennis; however, third-place finishers in tennis and cycling are now eligible for National. Athletes interested in registering can do so now at the National site.
• Winter Games to Be Held Feb. 14, 2009 (12-30-08)
The Maryland Senior Olympics has not held Winter Games since 2002, but this year, thanks to our friends at The Gardens Ice House in Laurel, we'll have a one-day event Feb. 14 for figure skating, ice hockey, speedskating and curling. Cost: $30 per event. Register online or call 240-777-8080 for more information.
• Event Schedule Set for 2009 National Games (10-20-08)
Maryland quaifiers for the 2009 National Senior Games in San Francisco/Palo Alto can now plan their trip around their events. The updated schedule has been posted on the NSA site.
• Running 5k Qualifier at Kentlands/Lakelands Race, Aug. 30 (08-16-08)
The Games shift into high gear starting with the 5k qualifer held in conjunction with the annual Gaithersburg race. All race participants 50 and above are automatically entered in MSO qualifying.
• Cycling Time Trials Qualify 15 for National Games (08-14-08)
Five new MSO time records are set as eight cyclists from 2006 MSO qualify again for the 2009 National Games, along with seven new qualifiers, during the event time trials held Aug. 9 at Church Creek.
• Don’t Miss Out! Registration Is Underway (07-24-08)
Don't get shut out of your sport or be forced to pay a late entry fee. Register now! Entry deadline is 30 days from the date of your event and you can enter only by paying a late fee—if space is available in your sport.

The acclaimed MedStar SportsHeath group teams up with Maryland Senior Olympics to offer the very best in sports medicine and care. Participating MSO athletes can get their MedStar ID cards now!
• New Sponsor Holy Cross Hospital Offering Classes to Assist Athletes for MSO (03-02-08)
As part of its “Senior Fit” program, Holy Cross Hospital is offering two classes this spring and summer to assist athletes in training for their Maryland Senior Olympics events.
• Passing of the Maryland Senior Olympics Torch to Montgomery County (11-19-07)
It's official! Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett (second from right) announced the Senior Olympics torch has been passed to Montgomery County.
