5k Qualifier Aug. 30 at Kentlands/Lakelands Race
The 2008 Maryland Senior Olympics shift into full gear Aug. 30 with the 5k running qualifier being held in conjunction with the 15th Annual Kentlands/Lakelands Race in Gaithersburg.

Thanks to our friends with the Kentlands Community Foundation and the City of Gaithersburg, all participating seniors aged 50 and above will have their race times be their qualifying times for the MSO awards and potential qualifying for the 2009 National Senior Games. In past years MSO held 5k and 10k qualifying times with the track & field events.

“Along with the 10k qualifier being held with the 33rd Annual Rockville Race in November, this is a great partnership,” said Ted Wroth, executive director of the Maryland Senior Olympics. “The organizers at both running events make it fast, simple and practical for the senior runners to not only get their qualifying times, but also race in a competitive atmosphere.”

Senior runners register for the 5k race like any participant, but for MSO purposes their times will be slotted according to their age group.

Runners can register online or through mail-in, but hurry. The race is drawing near. For more information, visit the Kentlands/Lakelands 5k website or call us at 240-777-8080.
