Track & Field Event Schedule
The event starting times for the 2009 Maryland Senior Olympics track & field events, to be held Aug. 29. at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex in Landover. These times are subject to adjustment, so check this page often to be sure you have the most updated schedule. This time schedule is listed by age group:

Women 50-69
9 a.m. — discus throw; standing long jump; 1,500m run
9:30 a.m. —100m dash finals
10 a.m. — shot put; pole vault
10:30 a.m. — 1-mile precision walk
11 a.m. — hammer throw
11:30 a.m. — weight throw; high jump; 400m run
12:45 p.m. — javelin throw
1 p.m. — 1,500 m race walk
2 p.m. — 200m dash
2:15 p.m. — triple jump
2:30 p.m. — 1-mile recreational walk
3:15 p.m. — long jump; 800m run

Women 70-Plus
9 a.m. — shot put; standing long jump; 1,500m run
9:30 a.m. — 100m finals

Notes
1.) All events run according to USATF Rules of Competition;

2.) Events will not start earlier than the posted time unless all competitors entered are present and ready to compete; some events may run late;

3.) Running events use fully automatic timing;

4.) 6 throws/jumps in field events unless more than 8 competitors in an age group (in which case all make 3 attempts and the top 8 take 3 more);

5.) Throwing implements—HT: M50-59 6kg; M60-69 5kg; M70-79 4 kg; M80+ 3 kg; All women 3 kg. WT: M50-59 25#; M60-69 20#; M70-79 16#; M80+ 12#; W50-59 16#; W60+ 12# SP: M50-59 6kg; M60-69 5kg; M70-79 4 kg; M80+ 3 kg; All women 3 kg. DT: M50-59 1.5kg; M60+ 1 kg; W50-79 1 kg; W80+ 0.75kg. JT:  M50-59 700 g; M60-69 600 g; M70-79 500 g; M80+ 400 g; W50-59 500 g; W60+ 400 g. Implements will be provided; if throwing own implements they must be weighed, inspected and approved before the competition. Implement inspection will begin at 8:15 a.m.;

6.) High jump and pole vault will start at a height agreed among the competitors and officials; high jump will be run using the “five alive” method;

7.) Javelin throw will be on the same field as the hammer throw and weight throw, except M60-64, who will throw the javelin on the infield of the track after the discus is completed;

8.) Football throw, Frisbee throw and softball throw can be staged in the infield using one end of the shot put area for throwing and/or on the field on top of the hill behind the grandstand; all will be “open pit” events.
