NEWS! 2010 Track & Field Event Schedule The event starting times for the 2010 Maryland Senior Olympics track & field events, to be held Aug. 14-15 at Howard Community College in Columbia. These times are subject to adjustment, so check this page often to be sure you have the most updated schedule. Saturday, Aug. 14 11 a.m.—Weight throw (women), javelin (men 70-plus), long jump (women), 1,500 run (women); Noon—Hammer throw (men), javelin (women), 1,500 race walk (men and women); 1 p.m.—Weight throw (men 70-plus), javelin (men 50-69), standling long jump (all), 100-meter race (men, oldest to youngest); 1:30 p.m.—100-meter race (women, oldest to youngest); 2 p.m.—Hammer throw (men, 50-69); 3 p.m.—400-meter run (men, oldest to youngest); 3:30 p.m.—Weight throw (men 50-69); 400-meter run (women, oldest to youngest). Sunday, Aug. 15 10 a.m.—Shot put (men 70-plus), discus (men 50-69), triple jump (men), 800-meter run (men); 10:45 a.m.—800-meter run (women); 11 a.m.—Triple jump (women), high jump (men); 11:30 a.m.—Discus (men 70-plus), shot put (men 50-69), mile recreational walk (men and women); Noon—High jump (women); 12:30 p.m.—200-meter run (men, oldest to younest); 1 p.m.—Shot put (women), pole vault (all participants), 200-meter race (women, oldest to youngest); 1:30 p.m.—Mile precision walk (men and women); 2 p.m.—Discus (women). Notes 2.) Events will not start earlier than the posted time unless all competitors entered are present and ready to compete; some events may run late; 3.) Running events use fully automatic timing; 4.) 6 throws/jumps in field events unless more than 8 competitors in an age group (in which case all make 3 attempts and the top 8 take 3 more); 5.) Throwing implements—HT: M50-59 6kg; M60-69 5kg; M70-79 4 kg; M80+ 3 kg; W50-74 3 kg; W75-plus 2kg. WT: M50-59 25#; M60-69 20#; M70-79 16#; M80+ 12#; W50-59 16#; W60-74 12#, W75-plus 4kg. SP: M50-59 6kg; M60-69 5kg; M70-79 4 kg; M80+ 3 kg; W50-74 3 kg, W75-plus 2kg. DT: M50-59 1.5kg; M60+ 1 kg; W50-79 1 kg; W80+ 0.75kg. JT: M50-59 700 g; M60-69 600 g; M70-79 500 g; M80+ 400 g; W50-59 500 g; W60+ 400 g. Implements will be provided; if throwing own implements they must be weighed, inspected and approved before the competition. Implement inspection will begin at 9 a.m.; 6.) High jump and pole vault will start at a height agreed among the competitors and officials; high jump will be run using the “five alive” method; 7.) Football throw, Frisbee throw and softball throw can be staged in the infield using one end of the shot put area for throwing and/or on the field on top of the hill behind the grandstand; all will be “open pit” events.
